The Blossom Series

“The Blossom Series is about the destruction of the life that I thought I had and the gathering up and reassembly of the pieces of that life into something new and beautiful.”

The Artist's Process

The elements in Farooq’s work are made of simple, disposable or previously disposed of material like paper and cardboard.  The flowers the make up the pieces are derived from two-dimensional Japanese family crests that are deconstructed and then reassembled into three-dimensional blossoms that are then assembled together into a larger blossom.  Each small blossom represents a thought or memory that are part of a greater whole, representing a period of time or an experience in the artist’s life.  In the artist’s view his work acknowledges the past but looks forward to a happier and more hopeful future.

Architect, Arts Patron, Volunteer and Artist

Farooq is an architect and began creating art at an early age.  He has been active in the Central Oklahoma Arts community as a patron, volunteer and artist.  He took his art to the public in 2016 and has participated in  events such as The Omelet Party for the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Allied Arts Artini, big Brothers and Big Sisters of Norman, Movable Feast, Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy Heroes Ball and the Planned Parenthood Great Plains Choices Event.  He is passionate about the arts and is a member artist with OVAC (Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition).
