Laura guides her viewers in exploring the world by creating opportunities to connect with places & people. Her oil paintings of iconic & historic stops along America’s Roadways allow the viewer to feel as if they are sitting in the drivers seat of a 1973 Volkswagen Van.

Training for the Olympics

Laura was training for Olympic Trials in the Women’s 20K Racewalk, when  a debilitating car accident in 2011 changed the course of her future.

The physical pain & damage to her body dissolved her ability to accomplish this goal.  Laura struggled to tackle even the simplest every day tasks of being a mother and a wife.   The prescriptive medications further aided in the process of her dis-engaging.

For 3 1/2 years she battled to find her purpose.  Gradually, memories of various road trips began to bring her peace & meaning, helping Laura to again desire a connection with those around her.

How Sunflowers Spend Their Day

Laura studied Fashion Design / Fashion Marketing at The Colorado Institute of Art.  She has owned & consulted for various businesses.

One of Laura’s favorite works is “Sunflowers for Sale”.  Sunflowers spend their day looking for sunshine.  As a child, Laura would spend hours watching sunflowers change direction on drives to visit her grandparents living in Hutchinson, Kansas.

In Service to Her Community

Service is one trait that was instilled in her at a very young age.  Laura is a  Board Member on the Pauls Valley Arts Council, a Paul Harris Fellow Rotary and a frequent Guest Speaker to business groups and young adults.

Learning about different cultures has always been a passion. While painting a fence at her family’s trading post in Lukachukai as a very young child or standing on the roof of a host family’s home in the Philippines during the 1989 Coup D’etat, Laura is always captivated by how people live their everyday lives.
